Day 2: Grand Exploration

With so many interesting attractions to see in Bangkok and so little time, Ecolux has you covered. Here are a few of our personal suggestions for your consideration. Costs for these visits are factored into your budget, although prices may vary slightly if visiting different or more attractions.

The Grand Palace

The Grand PalaceStart your tour of Bangkok the grand way by visiting The Grand Palace. Arguably the biggest attraction in Bangkok, this former king’s palace is sure to awe even the adventurous, temple-disliking traveler. To add to this, skip the traffic and get there conveniently – take the hotel’s free shuttle boat to Saphan Taksin where you can hire a cheap (less than US$1) water taxi to get there directly. Dress modestly and optionally rent a personal electronic tour guide for about 200 baht, or US$6.

Chinatown

Bangkok ChinatownThough Chinatowns are a staple of the modern metropolis, Bangkok’s rendition of Chinatown boasts a unique authenticity and heritage. Home to the city’s first ever paved road, the 20 baht/US$0.60 admission fee unleashes a frenzy of markets and restaurants for you to visit. An adventure navigating on its own, Ecolux recommends a visit to any traveler – whether it’s to purchase antiques or to sample the cuisine.

Cooking Class

Baipai Thai Cooking SchoolRest assured, adventurers, even you’ll love this one. Perhaps one of the most internationally recognized aspects of Thai culture is the cuisine. You’ve already experienced Chinatown and a bit of the local street samplings; why not have a go yourself? Whatever the skill level, the English-driven courses provided by Baipai are sure to satisfy your culinary desires. Substitute for dinner or continue feasting on with the local street food available in the vicinity. For more information and to make a booking, please see concierge at the hotel.

Days 3 & 4: Explore Bangkok

We invite you to take the 3rd and 4th days in Bangkok for yourself. With so much to discover, it is recommended that you ask concierge at the Hilton to make arrangements. Those who would like to see more of Bangkok’s historical side will be pleased by the numerous options available – Snake Farm, Floating Market, National Museum, and more. Also, Ecolux recommends checking out Bangkok’s nightlife, well known for its tourist-ridden bars and streets. However, if you wish to take this opportunity to see Bangkok as a whole efficiently and environmentally-friendly, we have a partnership with Grasshopper Adventures to provide discounted bicycle tours of Bangkok. Click here for more information. Pricing: any tour for $US25.

Day 5: Departure

After no doubt tiring but rewarding experience in Bangkok, we invite you to make use of the Millennium Hilton Bangkok’s facilities to catch on work or relax. After an early lunch by the river – at the hotel or once more at a local restaurant – set off to the airport for a short flight to your next destination, Phuket.
